I have gained experience in various projects, each with different requirements in terms of quality, delivery time, and other factors. This requires a digital product designer to not only have design skills but also to be flexible in building and adjusting processes to suit each project. In my most recent project – 'Heatkid,' a personal project that I am very passionate about, I applied a complete design process to practice and develop my thinking, especially in Design Thinking. Let's explore the details of each phase and the steps I took in this project!

I. Agenda

To make it easier to follow the flow of the article, I have divided it into six parts:

  1. Introduction to the Application and Device
  2. The Design Process Overview
  3. Phase A: Discovery (…)
  4. Phase B: Design (…)
  5. Phase C: Development (…)
  6. Lessons Learned

I. Introduce

1. Application

This is an application designed to work alongside a smart thermometer device. The Kidheat app acts as a bridge between the device and the user, allowing the temperature data measured by the device to be transmitted directly to the app.

App is equipped with essential features that help parents care for their children more conveniently and comprehensively, such as alerts when temperature exceeds limits, emergency support, health condition notes, and easy sharing of information with doctors. All these features are designed to give parents peace of mind in caring for their children's health.

2. Device

Device is a smart thermometer designed to be securely worn on a child's head. The device is integrated with an app to operate. Some of its key features include:

II. The Design Process Overview

The design process I applied is based on the Design Thinking method, but adjusted to fit the specific needs of the Kidheat project. Design Thinking is a renowned design approach successfully implemented by major companies like Apple. For Kidheat, I adapted this process into three main phases with seven specific steps.
